Viña Albali Valdepeñas, the up-and- coming Futsal club

It’s only been two years since Viña Albali Valdepeñas, in the spring of 2018, was able to make the leap to the Division of Honour of the National Futsal League. Since then, the Valdepeñas club, which bears the name of Spain’s best-selling wine brand in supermarkets, has brought fans nothing but joy.

The 2019/2020 season has been the consolidation of Viña Albali Valdepeñas as a team with a great spirit of sacrifice that has managed to make history by coming runner-up in the two most important tournaments: The Spanish Cup and the Futsal League.

Viña Albali Valdepeñas fans, the so-called “blue tide”, elected the League’s best fan base last season, could hardly imagine a better result in such a complicated season, and just two years after being promoted.

The history of the Futsal club dates back to the beginning of the 21st century, during the 2002-2003 season, when they began playing under the name Club Deportivo Fútbol Sala Ciudad del Vino.  What began as a group of local enthusiastic amateurs keen to practice sports, has become a professional football team that is among the elite of Spanish Futsal.

After being promoted to the Division of Honour in 2018, the club, sponsored by the Félix Solís Avantis group, adopted the name Viña Albali Valdepeñas, in honour of the company’s best-known wine brand, a hugely important link in the history of the company, being the brand most closely connected with the family. These two years of sponsorship have been a source of enormous enjoyment and are proof of the company’s commitment to sport and the city of Valdepeñas.

With the new season about to begin, and given the uncertainty of what each match-day will bring, Viña Valdepeñas will honour the secret of its success – that Valdepeñas never gives up…
